and the list goes on and on...
As White supremacy attempts to hush our cries for justice and peace we will push forward, as our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents did. This struggle has been transgenerational —we are tired, but more capable than ever. It is the sacrifices of those who have come before us which give us not only the right to peacefully protest, but the right to rebel!
it is much bigger than laws, it’s the hearts of racists which must be changed for society and systems of America to then change. I feel like it’s bigger than a list of demands.. there needs to be a change to the foundation of this country and the hearts of those people who are still living with hatred in their hearts. The corruption goes so deep our list is very short —equal access to resources and equal protection by the law. When we had a list, “we want to vote”, or “we want to be integrated”, or “we want to not be enslaved” you know what White people did... The bare minimum to shut us up and then came Jim Crow! It’s bigger than simple demands the country needs to change their heart and understand that Black Lives Matter.
Social media has been on fire with so many different opinions and perspectives, but what I have found is the common cry for peace in the world. We too, want peace. We want to live in a country where we don’t have to sit our children down and explain to them why they need to perform their best submission to any police officer they come in contact with. We want to live in a country where our children are allowed access to all of the resources and privileges available to those of the White race. We want to live in a country that honors its pledge of allegiance to liberty and justice for ALL.
The Black Lives Matter movement is not only a “Black issue” it is a HUMAN issue. There is a pattern of White supremacy attempting to destroy all which they cannot conquer. One thing I have gathered through all the mess of social media is that the world is on our side. It’s not just us against them anymore, this is right vs. wrong. We educate ourselves, we read our history books, and we decide to be on the right side of history. We decide to fight for what is right no matter the cost because where would we be if those before us did not do the same.
This is a call to action. Be loud, and be constructive, it is time we reclaim our power!
No justice, No peace.
